Autumn with its invigorating uir

The drying leaves fall inertly weigh

morning. The tall weeds and twigs
of trees are wreathed with garlands
of spider webs heavy laden with bead,
ed dew. The leaves underfoot are
soft as velvet and lie sodden in the
paths. Later Wheh the sun shines
brightly the webs dry out and fly
thru the air lighter than thistle
down. They snare you across the face
as you walk, they attach themselves
to your hat and bob merrily as you
go along your way; they cut across
your face and wind themselves about
your glasses. The leaves are crisp
now and rustle to your tread. To ev-
eiy breeze is added the scores of
dropping leaves that answer every
call of the wind.
The huge leaves of the maple lie
thick on the road and you travel over
them us flowers strewn in your path.
They lie crushed and shattered by the
wheels of traffic only to find rest
when blown by a drying wind against
some rock or tree or bush by the road
way. They have had their day, spring,
summer and fall.
A few butterflies still visit the
zinnias and late autumn flowers.

before they fold their wings to sleep
forever.
The valley is beautiful with gold
and scarlet ,green and purple. Apples
