Harvesting will start next week or)
the largest crop of loganberries the
Estacada country has had for many
years. The berries are not only abun
dant but of the b>est quality.
A price o f five cents a pound ir
assuied and it will probably advance
still higher. Pickers will be paid two
cents a pound and may get a bonus
Local growers have contracts with
the Gresham Berry Growers,, Libby,
ivlcNeili and Libby, the Scenic Can
nery, Gresham Packing Co. and othei
leceiving stations.
Heavy Crop o f Filberts
Carroll D. Bush| o f the Bush Nut
Nursery at Barton and Fred W. Bates
o f Eagle Creek report a heavy crop
o f filberts thiuout this territory.
There is also a heavy crop of waN
nuts. Quality is first class. The nut
growers will get twice as much foi
their product this year as compared
to last year’s receipts. This is due
laigely to the fact that no nuts are
being imported from Europe and the
nation’s domestic demands must be
met entirely by home nut growers
Mr. Bush also reports thhat there
is a good demand for giapes. The De
Slvazer Wine company o f Poitland is
now contracting with local growerv
and it is understood the price is $3<,
a ton.
