recently J. J. Fisher, vice president
and manager said that their organi
zation had the biggest year in 1940
since its start in 1919 and that an
even bigger year is in prospect for
1941.
The Gieshi-m Berry Growers is the
largest berry packing cooperative in
Oregon and during the past year
made sales of berries and fruits am
ounting to $1,278,974.14. Payments
to growers which are final except for
prunes and cherries were $729,675.-
11 which includes $76,638.67 releas
ed to growers May 13th.
Lists Final Paym ents
Manager Fisher lists the following
final payments In his annual repoit:
Strawberries 5.159 cents per pound;
red raspberries 8.0856 cents; black
raspberries 10.48 cents; loganberries
4.278 cents; youngberries 3.38 cents;
boysenberiies 4.18 cents; and black
berries 33.27 cents. With an addition
al two cent advance on cherries these
totals to date are 4 cents for blacks
and 4 V*. cents for Royal Anne«’ nei
ther of which is final.

At the annual election all the for
mer directors were reelected to plac
es on the board. All accepted the re-
election with the exception of Robt
Strebin of Troutdale. Lawrence Ayls
worth of Gresham was elected to Mr.
Strebins place. Others elected were H.
C. Compton, V. H. Snipe and Harold
Bushue of Boring. Manager Fisher
said he greatly appreciated the co-
operaton received from every mem
ber of the board in the past and that
he deeply regretted that Mr. Strebin
was not continuing as a member.
Following election of directors the
Berry Growers hoard reelected all
its officers as follows: C. T. Ryan,
Gresham, president; R. D. Mickey,
Gresham, vice president; J. J. Fisher,
Poitland, vice president and manager;
F. J. Becker, Gresham, secretary; and
Cora B. Green, Gresham, .treasurer.

bell of Gresham.

The Gresham Berry Growers larg,
plant has been expanded this season
to handle 300 tons of berries every
24 hours Mr. Fisher said. He expres
sed thanks to the growers for level

a ripening rush nearly swamped the
plant for several days.
