the contest were given a health chart
on which to keep a record o f their

The contest will close in May and
r parade will take place in Oregon

order to enter the parade, a pupil
must get a certificate from the doctoi
for his general health, including his
tonsils, adenoids, ears, eyes, etc., r
certificate from his dentist, and one
from his teacher, certifying that h .
has completed his health chart.
Nearly all the children entered the
contest and it is hoped to have r
good representation in the parade.
The children are all weighed and

Construction o f the worst section
o f road o f the entile highway be
tween Colton and Estacada is to be
undertaken immediately, is the mes
sage brought from Oregon City Wed
nesday by those attending the hear
ing held by the county court on that
day.
The work is to be done between
the intersection o f the Dodge road
and the Clear Creek bridge, which
will give the Elwood people an op
portunity to get in and out.
The question as to whether further
improvements in the direct highway
will be possible this year is yet unde
cided. Several communities were rep
resented at the hearing, and Judge C.
VV. Kruse again offered to sacrifice
$5,000 o f market road money from
the West side to be applied on this
road, which, he admitted, was the
most needed in the county at the
present time.
H. C. Stephens and A. W. Aru-
strong represented Estacada at the
hearing, Gordon Taylor was present
from Molalla, and Ed. Shearer was
spokesman for the Springwater dele
gation. Elwood and Colton districts
were both well represented.
The committees returned in high
spirits and are more than pleased
with the friendly feeling o f the coun
ty court toward the needed improve
ment.
