They are paid $3 per day for forty days, and afterward, nothing. It’s a serious proposition for a state like Oregon to have to employ $3-a-day men to make its laws. Of course, it would be easy to find plenty of men who would willingly serve in this capacity without pay, but The News does not believe they would give satisfaction.
