Another doses; a new one opens.
The old year is our life’s history of
deeds done, good or bad. It is all re
corded by Him who knows all. He
holds that for the future. If it is
good (b eds, the way will be opened
for a better beginning of a new year,
for it means the ability to go straight.
If it is evil, then the trails of the fu
ture will be harder to overcome. The
weaker a person is, the harder the
fight for the right. Promises are
good for nothing if only made to
temper the feelings for a few days or
weeks. Unless there is strong, vig
orous keeping of promises, and the
courage to stand square, then the
promise should not have been made.
The future holds great things for us
if we only lay hold of them and work
them out for our good.
Sunday morning at 11 o ’clock the
sermon theme will be “ The Untrav
eled Way,” a new year’s sermon. At
7 :30 p. m., the theme will be “ Rest
in the Lord.” The Sunday school
will be at 10 a. m., with a very ac

William Powell, whose suavely vil
lainous characterizations have made
him one o f the best known heavy
actors o f the screen, docs something
in his latest role for Paramount in
“ Forgotten Faces” that he has never
done before. He reforms.
In none o f his previous bad man
characterizations has Powell turned
to the straight and narrow path. He
has gone his wicked way to the final
fadeout and has died two or 'three
unrepentant deaths.
In “ Forgotten Faces,” a special
production with an all-star cast," he
has the role of “ The Frog,” a sinister
appearing figure who, in reality, has
many redeeming qualities.
Clive Brook, the talented English
actor, Badanova, famous Russian
star, Mary Brian, Fred Kohler and
Jack Luden are other members of
the all-star cast o f this picture, which
will come to the Liberty Theatre, in
Estacada, Sunday for a two days’
run.
