elected m ayor for his fourth term at
• ! the election on the face of returns
from 319 of the 429 precincts, s
wave of popularity throughout the city
sw eeping the m ayor Into office again
on first-choice votes.
After a close race In which the three
candidate, for city com m issioner were
running neck and neck and their posi­
tions changed from time to time,
George P. Eisman took the lead, John
M. Mann slid to second place and A.
L. Barbur was third.
So close was the contest for the
two places for com m issioner th at
third-choice votes were necessary to
determ ine the lead as the count pro­
gressed, and the m issing 108 preclncta
m ight change the result either way.
While the vote ou city commission­
er was close, com fortable leads on all
of the city m easures subm itted to the
people at the election appeared to
have been obtained as returns w e re
counted. Five m easures w e re p a ss e d
