Estacada will be the scene o f unus
ual activities on Saturday night, June
30, with a number of events sched
uled, including the tabulation and
announcement o f the winner among
the contestants for the honor o f be
ing chosen as Goddess o f Liberty for
the Fourth o f July celebration, which
will take place at 9 p. m.
At the Liberty Theatre, in addi
tion to the regular picture show,
which starts at 7 o ’clock, the Valjean-,
Normandy Girls Band and entertain
ers, with the vaudeville offerings in
cluded in their program, will appear
on the stage at 8 o ’clock, the man
agement having announced a big dou
ble bill for that night.
The Valjean unit o f the Normandy
Girls orchestra has also been spec
ially engaged to play for the Carl
Douglass Post o f the American Lc-j
gion regular dance, at Eagle Creek, I
following the show at the Liberty i
Theatre. It is reported that the Le
gion boys, through their dance com
mittee o f which Elmer Anderson is
chairman, have broadcasted the event
throughout Clackamas county, and
expect a record crowd at their Eagle
Creek dance on that night, as the
Normandy Girls orchestra is known
as one o f the best organization o f i
dance musicians in the Northwest,
and a real treat is said to be in store |
for those contemplating attending the
Legion dance on Saturday night.
