more than half their games this sea
son and should put up a scrappy con
test. Several propositions for games
were turned down for Boring because
of the short distance between the
two towns and the pospects of draw
ing a large Boring crowd for the day.
A big street dance in the evening
is also being planned by the cele
bration committee. A midnight mat
inee at the Liberty Theatre will close
the days’ activities.
A mammoth fireworks display at
night will be a big feature. This
will furnish entertainment for at
least an h<Air and will be one of the
biggest displays of the kind ever seen
in Clackamas county.
A contest is now under way for
the selection of a Goddess of Libeity
to reign through the big celebratic n.
A prize of a $75 outfit of clothing
will be awarded the winner, with a
$25 prize for the winner of second
and third places, the latter to be the
attendants during the day.
The rules of the contest are as
follows:
1. Any girl or young lady residing
in Eastern Clackamas county is eli
gible to enter the contest (married
women ineligible).
2. Each contestant will be required
to make a cash report each day of
the contest.
The contest starts June 8 and »ill
end at 9 o’clock Saturday evening
June 30.
4. Credits will count at the rate
of one vote for each cent turned in.
5. No votes or credits can be trans
ferred from one candidate to another
after once turned in to the contest
manager.

Band Stand Taken Down
The old band stand on the corner
of Broadway and Third street has
finally been torn down. The stand,
erected two or three years ago by
the band, was never very much of
a success, being too small and also
too heavy to load on a truck, as was
originally intended.
Portland Lodge Pays Visit
The local Masonic lodge enjoyed
a visit from Oregon lodge, Portland,
Tuesday night. Work of the third
degree was given and splendid re
freshments followed. There were 25
present from Portland, five from
Sandy and three other visitors.

MRS. STOCKTON DIES
AT PORTLAND HOSPITAL
Mrs. Frances T. Stockton, wife of
W. L. Stockton, who resided at Camp
8, was taken suddenly ill the latter
part of last week and last Friday was
brought down from the camp on the

away shortly after arriving at Port

Mrs. Stockton was a member of
Mountain Chapter No. 108 of the
Eastern Star of Estacada and quite
a number of the members of the local
order attended the funeral which was
held Thursday afternoon at Gresham,
with interment in Lincoln Memorial
