Credit Men’s Association
Discusses Local Problems
That credit information may be
available to members of the Eastern
Clackamas Business Men’s Credit
association, a system has been inaug
urated by the secretary that he may
give information to members on a
moment's notice regarding the credit
standing o f customers o f the differ
ent business houses o f the community
the organization was informed Fri
day night when the regular monthly
meeting was held.
The credit standing as indicated
by the reports o f the individual
members is available at all times,
without anyone other than the sec
retary knowing the exact source of
the infomartion.
At the earlier meetings of the
business men of the community it
was found that several individualr
in this vicinity had contracted bills
at many stores without taking any
interest in seeing that these bills
were paid. Now most o f the names
o f those on which information is
desired it is found owe but one or
two stores, and in most cases it was
learned that “ slow pay" was to be
blamed more on the merchant that
the debtor.
On many o f the accounts listed
no statements had been sent and in
this case the merchant has no one
to blame but himself for the con
dition o f the account, it was points«’
out.
One o f the principal reasons for
the association is to make it easier
for those entitled to credit and im
possible for those to secure credit
who are not entitled to it.
