“ Hello, Mother Ocean,” said Mr.
Moon.
“ Hello, Mr. Moon,” said Mother
Ocean.
“ I ’ve come over here to cull upon
you,” said Mr. Moon.
“ You're all dressed up In your full
evening clothes,” said Mother Ocean.
“ O f course,” said Mr. Moon, “ I want
to dress up in my very best to come
and call on you.”
“ Oh, that Is splendid, that Is a great
compliment,” said Mother Ocean In her
deep, low voice.
“ Y es,” continued Mr. Moon, “ I was
talking about It up In the sky and I
sa id :
“ 'Sky friends, I am going a-calling
upon dear old Mother Ocean tonight.
“ ‘I want to look down upon her and
talk to her and maybe she will let me
have my picture taken In her beautiful
ocean picture gallery.
I would like
her to have one. I don't want It my
self.
“ ‘She could show It to a few friends
and then she could destroy It.
“ 'So, Sky friends, I want to look my
best.'
‘“ You will wear your best evening
clothes then, won't you?’ my Sky
friends asked me.
“ And I told them thnt of course I
would do this.”
“ W ell, It Is splendid to see you,”
snid Mother Ocean. “ You look so sil
very and so handsome,”
“ All yes,” said Mr. Moon, “ I spoke to
the Sky Jewelers before I came out
this evening and I said to them :
“ ‘I should like to wear some gleam
ing silver which will shine beautifully
as I am calling on Mother Ocean to
night.’

that night. And Mother Ocean mur
mured words o f happiness ubout her
splendid visitor.
Mr. Moon was at his best.
Never had he looked so handsome
and so line. He looked magnificent.
“Today,” said Mother Ocean, “ my
wave children dressed in their blue
play dresses, nnd later they dressed
up in their blue nnd purple nnd green
nnd wore caps o f blue and white.
“ The sky cloud mountains looked nt
the children and spoke o f how beauti
fully gay and rough they xverel
“ ltut tonight they are quiet nnd
beautiful and still.”
Then some people came down to
.Mother Ocean and they went In bathing
in the silvery water nnd in the moon
light. And Mother Ocean sa id :
"M y children aren't the only ones to
play and to frolic I But how they are
admiring you. Mr. Moon.”
Sir Moon smiled nnd answ ered:
"B u t I dressed In my best for you
nnd not for them. Mother Ocean.”

school auditorium. After t he

pleted reports were given by two
committees. T h e communica
tions received were considered
and a motion was made and
carried that the organization
affiliate with the Oregon State
Chamber of Commerce again this
year.
The matter of publicity was

Feyerabend was appointed to
take up the proposition as out
lined by the Portland Chamber
of Commerce.

the need and purpose of a com
munity club. Several years ago
Mr. Williams helped to organize
this club.

existence.
