Farewell Reception
A number of friends and rep
resentatives of the local churches
assembled at the M. E. church, j
Monday night for a farewell re
ception to Mr. Percy Dawe. The
Rev. A. DeMoy 'presided and a
program was rendered. The pro
ceedings were opened bv singing
the hymn, “ Blest Be the Tie
Which Binds,” prayer by the
Rev. V. A. Weir, and an address;
by him; then a piano selection
by Mrs. J. E. Gates, a reading
by Mrs. T. A. Reagan, and songs
by Mrs. Harry Kitching and Miss
Ruth Dillon.
Addresses w ere'

pressing esteem for Mr. Dawe
and regret at his departure. The
following resolution was carried
by a unanimous standing vote:
“ We, members of the Churches
of this commurity and citizens
of Estacada, take delight in ex
pressing our entire confidence
in Mr. Percy Dawe as a man, in
his ability as a teacher, and in
his loyalty as a citizen of this
town.
“ We feel that his going away
from us is a direct loss, morally
and intellectually to the M. E.
Church in which he has been an
effective member and worker
during his stay here; to the town
because of his splendid and help
ful moral influence, and to the
high school because that institu
tion is losing by his departure a
most able instructor.
“ With sincere regret we see
him depart, and with hopeful
hearts we bid him God-speed.”

How sleep the brave who sink to rest
B y all their country's wishes blest!
When Spring, with dewy fingers cold,
Returns to deck their hallowed mould
She there shall dress a sweeter sod

B y forms unseen their dirge is sung;
Their Honor comes, a pilgrim gray.
To bless the turf that wraps their clay;

To dwell a weeping hermit there.
