Ps. 103:8-12 TH E SEVERITY O F LOVE tion was meant to further their own spiritual salvation as well as that of others. It must be remembered, that the real conflict was between Je hovah the God of the Israelites and Baal the god of the Canaan ites. The former was fighting for recognition and the establish ment of His authority in the earth, and He was doing it in the wav which would be most clearly understood. He had to show He would brook no opposition, and was as equally severe with the Israelites when they rebelled, as with the Canaanites. But in the light of Christian revelation we now enjoy, we cun feel more assured that no matter how t e r r i b l e God’s methods sometimes are, they are not ar bitrarily adopted, but guided by wisdom, goodness and love. For we are told that "God was in Christ reconciling the world unto Himself.”. To effect that recon ciliation God in Christ suffered to the Htmost, more so than the Canaanites or any one else. God has shown us then that if from suffering and punishment He cannot save men who sin, He can and (does share with them their suffering and punishment. This proves conclusively that He is never vindictive, cruel or unjust. AND LOOK OVER THE NEW feel ; store across from the post of fice. A full line of feeds which merits your atten tion.
