Currimville School Note»
School C om m encem ent Notes
A pie social was held at the
Currinsviile school, May 6th, to
raise money to buy gasolene
lamps to light the school. This
was also a house warming for
the new play shed.
The Baccalaureate service for
the class o f 1921, o f the Estacada
High School, will be held at the
High School Auditorium on Sun­
day evening, May I5th, at 8
o ’clock. Rev. E. M. Patterson,
o f Eugene Bible University, will
deliver the sermon.
Commencement exercises for
the graduating class o f 1921, o f
Estacaua High School will be
held on Wednesday evening, Mav
18th, at 8 o ’clock. J. A. Churchill,
State Supt. Public Instruction,
will deliver the address o f the
evening.
Many brought their baby pic­
tures, and were dressed as chil­
dren. The pictures were placed
along the black board where ev­
eryone could have a trial guess­
ing the identity of the babi«s.
Wilma Kitching and Mrs. Jennie
Saling received the prize.
Fred Saling was given book by
his teacher, Mrs. Althea Davis,
as a reward for perfect attend­
ance and excellent record.
The Sunshine Girls sold home­
made candy, which was in great
demand.
Some o f the pies were auction­
ed otf, and the rest were sold for
ten cents a cut. Hugh Jones
and George Walter were auc­
tioneers, and Charles Kitching
was delivery boy. Coffee was
served free.
Proceeds o f the
evening were $30.69.
Everyone seemed to enjoy th«
evening very much.
School will close May 20.
G A R FIE LD BREVITIES
The Garfield sewing club met
at the home o f Mrs. G. M.
Weatherby on Thursday.
Garfield Grange No. 317 has
voted to put on an exibit at the
Estacada fair. T. B. Young was
appointed chairman o f a commit­
tee to boost.
Ladies o f the Grange No. 317
met at the hall on Wednesday
for a quilting bee, the proceeds
for the work to be used by the
work committee.
Those winning diplomas in the
county spelling contest o f the
Porter school, were Aldin Block,
4th grade; Marjorie Sandstone
and Robert Hicks, 7th grade.
E. Krigbaum, Mr. and Mrs. C.
M. Mattoon and son motroed to
Hood River on Sunday for ap­
ple blossom dav. They report
a wonderful trip. While there
they called on Mr. and Mrs.
Stephens. formerly o f this place.
Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Weather­
by celebrated the tenth anniver.
sary o f their marriage on May

Irene Patterson at Detroit, Mich­
igan. coming directly to Oregon.
The rooms were decorated with
spring blossoms and dainty re­
freshments were served. Those
enjoying the event were Messrs,

M. Mattoon, T. B. Young. H.
Anders. Theo. Carpenter, C. V.
Sandstone and Ben Walker.
