Mrs. Bert Moore spent Friday
in Portland.
W. R. Reid, of Garfield, was a
Portland visitor Friday.
Miss G. Dillon went to Port­
land Saturday for a visit of a few
days.
Mrs. J. W. Shafford went to
Portland Saturday to remain till
Sunday.
Mrs. D. Eshleman and little
son David were Oregon City vis­
itors Saturday.
Rev. J. F. Dunlop will preach
at Upper Garfield church next
Sunday at 3 p. m.
Mrs. R. Morse entertained her
brothers Sunday. Messrs. H. B.
and J. M. Van Duzer of Port­
land.
Mrs. Sarah Silver of Sterling,
Colorado, arrived Saturday morn­
ing to visit her daughter, Mrs.
G. P. Rose.
Mr. and Mrs. D. H. Morgan
with their two sons, Chester and
Willard, returned from their trip
to coast points Friday.
Lee Bronson and family drove
over from Portland Thursday,
and spent the night at his parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bronson.
Mr. and Mrs. L. C. Possen and
daughter Leta. arrived home
Sunday evening, from their vaca­
tion at the Tillamook beaches.
Mrs. C. J. Pimm and daughter
went to Portland Friday and met
Mr. Pimm and their little son
returning all together in the
atternoon.
A week from Mondav, the bell
will again ring out, and the chil­
dren be trooping again to the
school house. In the High School
the seniors will disport their dig­
nity and the sophomores proceed
to impress the virtue of humility
on the incoming ireshmen.

Mr. and Mrs. Bert Moore visi­
ted in Portland, Tuesday and
Wednesday.*
Mrs. Walter Givens of Kent,
Ore., has been visiting this week
with friends in Estacada.
Miss Vie Rice of Myrt'e Creek,
Ore., is the guest of Mrs. D. H.
Morgan. She joined the Morgan
party while on their Tillamook
trip returning with them.
Mrs. A. Jensen and Mrs. J.
Curry, both of Portland, who
have been visiting Mr. and Mrs.
M. Pedersen of Dodge, returned
to their homes Saturday morn­
ing.
Regular services in the Metho­
dist church next Sunday morn­
ing. No services in the evening,
but there will be a Union Service
in the Christian church in the
evening.
The room at the rear of the
bank is being partitioned off and
made into a suite of offices for
Dr. McCall. When completed,
the doctor will be more conven­
iently situated than upstairs.
Dr. and Mrs. E. K. Scott of
Portland, with their daughters
the Misses Marjorie and Eleanor,
spent the day here Sunday, as
the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H.
C. Stephens.
It was truly a “ gracious rain”
we had last week. The gardens
have been greatly benefitted. and
all vegetation greatly invigorated
and refreshed for having its thirst
slaked and the dust washed off
from it.
We learn that Mrs. M. B. Signs
of Board man. Ore., is or has
been recently, in a surgical hos­
pital in Portland. We trust that
by this time, she has returned
home, and that her health will
soon be fully restored.
We are glad to report that the
condition of Mr. T. C. Jubb has
improved so much, that he can
sit up part of the day, and read.
He has had a long and serious
spell of sickness and his many
friends now hope his recovery
has begun in earnest.
R. F. Feemster, real estate
dealer of Portland, was in town
Sunday and left his card at this
office. We regret n o t seeing
him, as we had pleasant associa­
tions with him at Bayocean,
walking over the mud flats at low
tide after clams and crabs.
Edward Shearer, of Spring-
water, will be superintendent of
the poultry and pet stock depart­
ment at the State Fair at Salem,
September 27 to October 2. He
was down there last week mak­
ing arrangements. H e s a y s
among the exhibits will be from
three to five hundred rabbits.
