Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Sparks en
tertained Sunday four old friends
of Mrs. Sparks, who formerly
attended the same school with
her at Fort Dodge, Iowa. These
were the Misses Matie, Rosa and
Edith Trains of Watson station,
and Mrs. W. R. Reid of Garfield.
Mr. Sparks took a group picture
of the ladies, which will make an
interesting souvenir of the occa

Mrs. Arabella Couse, the mother
of the late Frank P. Couse, who
was depot agent here when Theo.
Ahlberg was in the service, and
who died in January, 1919, came
to Estacada Thursday for a visit
with friends. She is living in
Portland, having charge of the
Laroy Apartments on the East
Side. Her grandson Will Har
mon has been visiting his former
boy friends here for two weeks.
They both returned to Portland
Monday. Mrs. Couse’s other
son Albert who was in the war,
suffered a nervous breakdown
last January, and has been since
unable to work. He was gassed
twice when overseas, which may
have caused the present break
down.
