Ore., is visiting her sister, Mrs.

Otis Wagner came home Fri­
day for the week end from Sell-
wood hospital. When the weath­
er is fine he begins to feel like
himself, but on cloudy and wet
days his respiration is affected.
Mr. and Mrs. R. M,. Standish
and children were week end
guests of Mrs. Standish’s moth­
er, Mrs. M. H. Evans. They
came down Friday from Port­
land. While here the former
editor of the News and Henry
Heiple went ofT on a fishing trip.

and Mrs. A. C. Cooper.
The bed of Japanese lilies in
P. M. Wagner’s garden, is a joy
to behold, and their fragrance is
as sweet as their beauty.
F. Hebdingof Perrydale, Ore.,
who has been visiting his sister

left for his home-Tuesday.
Miss Bertha Hillman has gone
to Corvallis, to enter the 0. A.
C , where she will take the com­
mercial and musical courses.
Dave Eschleman and wife and
little son left on Sundav for a
two weeks vacation. They will
visit relatives in Salem and Cor­
vallis and other points n#ar there
and Mr. Eschleman expects to
do some hunting in that viciity. n
A. C. Cooper went to Portland
Saturday. He informs us that
he has six boxes of a new kind
of crab apple, the French seed­
ling. The tree bore for the first
time this year. He claims they
make the best jelly he has
known.
Paul JTHolm of Garfield, has
purchased an Avery tractor with
a Grand Detour Jr. sulky plow.
The machines arrived from Port­
land last week and Saturday
morning he was driving them
through the streets on his way
home.
John Ficken. who went to
stay with his son at Bison, Kan.,
about two months ago, returned
last Saturday. He found Kan­
sas altogether too warm and is
convinced that this vicinity is
the place to live in. He will
move on to a ranch in V'oia.
Mrs. A. E. Sparks entertained
a number of ladies Friday af­
ternoon. The time was pleas­
antly passed in visiting, guess­
ing contests and partaking of
delicious refreshments. Mrs.
Sparks’ skill ir, the culinary line
is well known ammigher friends.
Ken Bartlett left Monday for
Eugene, where,he will reenter
the University, his course hav­
ing been interrupted by his join­
ing the army for war service.
He will be warmly welcomed,
not only for himself, but also
because he will add considerable
strength to the football eleven.
