Washington, Advises
Housewives.
Dr. Mao H. Oardwpll, of Portland,
who recently r etu rn ed to Oregon from
Gary, Ind., New York and Washington,
where she was engaged In medical re­
se arch work for the Children's Moreau
of the D e p a r tm e n t of Labor, said in
a n Interview: “T h e dairy industries
m u st be encouraged. The children of
America m u s t have milk. They c a n ­
not thrive without good clean milk.
Housewives m us t use more milk. If
they de man d It the dairy man will find
some solution to his problems and will
see th at his cows get the feed and that
he keeps th em alive and in good
health. However, if the women don't
or d er the milk, th e da iry m an isn't go­
ing to keep his cows around just as
pets and or na m e n ts.
Feed Is too
scarce and labor too high for that. It's
up to the housekeepers.
