Wedding Bells hail to Ring
R. C. Herring, the announce
ment of whose wedding appears
on the front page of this issue,
advises the News office this
morning, that his plans were
changed and he did not get
married,
Rol had previously bought
cigars for his Estacada friends
and asked that a write-up of the
affair appear in the News, and
our only regret is that he did not
call at the News office personally
this morning.
Walter Givens of Estacada is
now occupying the pulpit of th^
Christian Church at Kent, Ore
gon, making the trip each week
end.
C. M. Davis of Springwater is
now arranging his farming so
that he can be away for the sum
mer, expecting to go to eastern
Oregon, where he will be employ
ed with his tractor. Mr. Davis is
selling off most of his livestock
and after Monday next will dis
continue his usual weekly grind
ings of grain.
Several news items from the
rural districts were received this
week too late for publication,
but will appear next week.

Prof. Wilson and his class in
economics last Monday visited
the Estacada State Bank, where
Mr. H. C. Stephens explained the
intrieasies of banking, the hand
ling of checks, drafts and money.
Owing to sickness among the
members of the Junior class, they
were unable to give the chapie
program Wednesday morning,
so Rev. Spiess and E. W. Bartlett
were secured as speakers. Their
talks were interesting and educa
tional and enjoyed by ad.
A Junior Red Cross has been
organized in the high school and
ali are working with great zeal.
On Friday, the 22nd, the girls
of the Adeiphic society will give
a program, to which all are in
vited.
E. H. S. has lately been fortun
ate in obtaining the services of
o u t s i d e speakers. Dr. i'. B.
Ford, father of our ex-principal
delivered an address Thursday
and later that day, G. J. Taylor
editor of the Molalla Pioneer,
cheered all with one of his char
acteristic humorous talks.
The track team is practising
every night and has recently pur
chased some new apparatus, in
cluding a vaulting pole and is
preparing for the dual me e t
against Gresham, which takes
place shortly. The girls are also
practising the s h o r t dashes,
three-legged races etc.

training at American Lake, in
