Gladys Joyner left for Portland Saturday, where she will remain for a month or two, taking a special cdurse of studies. rzà .i Mrs. Henry Heiple, treasurer of the Currinsville Priscilla Club, last week handed “ye editor” , as head of the Estacada Red Cross Auxiliary, a check for $50., being a donation from that soci­ ety. The check was duly turned over to Mrs. M. H. Evans, treas­ urer of the local auxiliary,, who in turn passed it on to the Port­ land headquarters. Mrs. Evans also deposited $5., in payment of five additional Red Cross mem­ berships taken at the News office. No good news has yet been heard by the parents of Verner G. Branland of Colton, who it is feared lo$t his life in theTuscan- ia disaster. All other Clackamas County boys on the ill-fated ves­ sel have been accounted for but it is feared young Branland was drowned. la 1 ¿sai George W.
