The News has been asked by a
leading farmer o f this commun
ity to start a campaign urging
the installation o f public scales
in Estacada.
On investigating, we find that
nearly every city or town o f any
consequence has a public scales,
in-sortie instances being operated
by the city, with a small charge
made for weighing.
Today Estacada is without such
a convenience and the few pri-
y ate scales are so located as to
lie nearly inaccessible for public
weighing.
Such scales probably would not
exceed an expense ol over $200.
and should pay for themselves
within a few years from the
receipts.
