I We’re One Year Old
■
Thank You!
In celebrating- our first birthday, November 16th, we take
pleasure in looking back over our first year’s business and
while we are far from an attainment of our aims and ideals,
we are congratulating ourselves on the substantial and pros
perous business which we have built to date.
We thoroughly realize that ou^.success has been largely
due to the generous patronage of our many friends and pat
rons of this community, coupled with our own willingness
and de ire to do our best to serve those wants.
Starting in a small way, our store and warehouse now con
tain a complete line of flour, feed, groceries and other neces
sary staples, with our yard handling a full line of lumber,
shingles, lathe, sand, cement and general building material.
Our delivery department, which at first consisted of faithful
old Frank (our horse) has now been augmented by the addition
of a Ford car. As prompt delivery is important for our
• success, we will continue to uphold our reputation in that line.
8
In conclusion, we wish to sincerely thank our many friends
■ for their patronage and support and hope during the follow-
B ing years to be able to even more satisfactorily supply their
I every want and to our mutual advantage.

Before a crowd of fond and ad
oring parents and friends, the
children of the Fstacada grade*
schools on Tuesday evening gave
their a n n u a l entertainment,
which was excellent from start
to finish
The program consisted of ten
distinct features, including three
numbers by the primary boys
and girls, with the balance staged
by the pupils of the 2nd to 8th
grades.
Especial credit is due the teach
ers. whose patience in rehearsal
and drilling was amply rewarded
in the creditable manner in whieh
the children performed, from
songs and recitations, to gymnas
tics, acting and pan'omine:
If there was stage fright
among any of the youth ul par i-
cipants, it was not evident to the
audience, for each boy and girl
was as composed and cool during
his or her part, as any experienc
ed performer; in fact their ability
to appear at ease on a public plat
form would shame the average
adult.
The program was largely of a
patriotic order, with the red,
white and blue predominaiing.
The singing of patriotic songs
was joined in by the audience,
which, (we dislike to admit)
showed considerable unfamiliar
ity w ith the words of The Star
Spangled Banner and America,
other than the first verses.
The Helping Hi ml was very
pleasantly entertained by Mrs.
E. Naylor last Wednesday af
ternoon. The time was spent in
making comfort pillows for the
soldiers. The club will meet
with Mrs. R. M. Brash. Dec. 5.
All members and friends are in
vited to be present.
