Large Garfield Orchards Traded
A deal was consumated last
week, whereby the Wonaeott or
chard property in Garfield was
traded for orchard and alfalfa
property at Murphy. Idaho.
The Garfield property was own
ed by C. N. Wonaeott of Port
land, who was one of the pioneer
orchard owners in the l<> tacada
country, the new own« r being a
Mr. Dewade of Portland, who
will probably occupy the place.
A1 Stephens and family, who
for several years have been in
charge of the Garfield place, are
leaving this week for Hood Riv-
where he wifi manage the Wona-
cott Orchard, comprising about
25 acres of bearing trees.
Last Thursday evening’s show
at the Family Theatre was one
of the best ever seen in Estacada,
as "Pois and Pans Peggie” was
all that it was heralded as being,
namely one of the cleanest, best
acted and entertaining of film
plays. A continuance of such
high grade pictures will prove an
attraction in Estacada.
As fast as the gravel is receiv
ed from the Bell Pits, it is now
being unloaded and spread on
the roadway, on Fifth St. in Es
tacada, the work beginning at
the Terrace Addition end.
Carver Line To Extend To Viola
According to advices received
from the Public Service Commis
sion, the Portland & Oregon City
Rv.. commonly known as the Car
ver Line, is planning to extend
its line to Viola, from the present
terminus near Baker's Bridge.
Reports of the contemplated ac
tivities of this road have been
c irrent in this eoqntry for sever
al years and it is hoped this latest
move means business.
Friday • Tire Conservation Day
On Friday, Sept. 14th at the
Estacada Garage, an expert from
the Goodyear Tire Company of
Akron, Ohio will be present and
bring to the motorists of this
community, all of whom are in
vited, first hand information on
the saving of tires and expert in
spection and advice of a kind
that could not be secured m any
other way or at any other time.
It is absolutely free.
Mrs. James Park and children
of Estacada are visiting at the
home of her parents, Mr. and
Mis. J. H. Brokaw at Forest
Grove.
Sylvester Wonaeott of Kimber
ley, Idaho, who up to four years
ago resided in Garfield, was a vis
itor in that section for a day last
week.

At the recent Lai Kir Day races
in 'Tacoma, R. C. Durant, Vice
President of the Chevrolet Motor
Company, won the «50 mile race
and on the same day, Louis Chev
rolet won the Grand Race at Chi
cago, defeating the great racer
DePalina.
Louis Chevrolet's
brother won third in the same
race. These are the real tests of
durability and power and the
Chevrolet always wins.

Under the direction of Con
tractor Snook, nevvf cement walks
are being constructed on the Es
tacada school premises, leading
from Main St. to the new high
school building and including all
walks in the grounds of the high
and grammar schools. At this
time the board walk on Main St.
will remain as it is, subject to a
few new planks.
