10 cars at this early date. Are you going to allow this condition to exist?
u r success and ability to stay in the game, depends greatly upon
your co-operation, and developments.
e v e r a 1 years ago the fact seemed apparent that a cannery was needed.
We are earnestly tr\ing to fill this need. What part are you taking?
r o f i t s have averaged over $100 per acre in berries, one grower cleared

Work is now well underway
in the construction of a driveway
leading from the Main St. hill in
Estacada into the grounds of the
M. E. Church.
The work is being done largely
by volunteer labor in charge of
Rev. Spiess. The grading is now
partly completed, several trees
having been felled and with the
aid of the city, the connecting
roadway from the street will soon
be built.

G. H. Lichthorn, Prop.
About five years ago, two
Estacada boys, Walter Woodard
and Elvie Morrow joined the U.
S. Navy.
For a short time thereafter the
boys were stationed on the same
ship, but for the past four or five
years their duties had separated
them into the farthest corners
of the world.
This week, at the Morrow home
in Estacada, the two held a re
union and discussed pro and con
the U. S. Navy from stockhole to
the admiral’s bridge.
Miss Irma Graham, who is at
tending the U. of W. at Seattle,
returned to her home in Estacada
last week, where she will remain
until the opening of school. Her
brother. Guy Graham, who is in
business in Seattle, also joined
the family reunion, Guy contem
plates leaving this week for Pasa
dena. where he will witness the
U. of 0. - Pennsylvania football
game on New Years Day.
T he Ruggleses in o u r Alley.
The pupils of the Currinsville
School, under the direction of
Miss Hoss, the teacher, gave a
Christmas program Friday after
noon, which met with such hearty
applause, that it was repeated
Saturday evening at the Estacada
M. E. Church Christmas enter
tainment.
The feature of the program was
the playlet, taken from the Bird’s
Christmas Caroi, called Ruggle’s
Christmas.
Miss M. Gertrude Jones of Sa
lem, formerly a member of the
; E. H. S. faculty, spent a few days
this week as the guest of Mrs.
| Wm. Kuhrasche of Estacada.
1 The new house on the John
j Trachsel place near Viola is fast
nearing completion and when fin
ished will represent another of
the handsome farm homes of
this community.
Fred Hoffmeister of Eagle
| Creek was reported last week to
have shot a coyote and shipped
J a load of turkeys to the Portland
market. While undoubtedly the
killing of the coyote, guaranteed
more turkeys for shipment, it
would have been well to have
shipped the coyote too, as it
might have been welcome these
days of high cost of living.
