N ext Friday afternoon the E.
H. S. football warriors w ill invade
Mil waukie with hopes o f bringing
home the spoils o f victory. The
winning o f this game would mean
for Estacada the first steps to
wards the county championship,
as Milwaukie is said to have one
o f the fastest teams in the coun
ty this year, although, heretofore
the team has made a very poor
showing. But with several ex-
0. C. H. S. stars in the line-up,
and by hard training, they have
developed into a contender for the
county championship.
Mrs. Hattie Clester very pleas
antly entertained The Helping
Hand last Wednesday afternoon.
Mrs. R. M Brash was a Port
land visitor Saturday.
O w ing to the scarcity o f apples
this fall the job o f picking them
will be small.
Supervisor
Brenton
Vedder
was visiting the schools at Eagle
Creek and Douglass on Friday.
Mrs. John Reid and sons,
Theodore and Chester, were din
ner-guests at the home o f R. B.
Gibson Saturday.
The Estacada High School is
each year broadening out into
larger fields o f study and student
body activities. The latest activ
ity is the oratorical contest to be
held Dec. 1st. About fifteen stu
dents have signified intentions o f
trying out in this branch o f edu
cation. The w inner’s name will
be engraved on the Oratorical
Cup presented by the Class o f ’ 16.
The Wehsferians were delight
fully entertained by the Adelphics
in the park last Friday evening.
One o f the main attractions o f
the evening was the wedding o f
Mr. Websterian and Miss Adel-
phia, after which the wedding
supper o f toasted marshmallows
was served, and everyone was
well pleased.
Ralph Gibson and family were
visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Roy
Douglass Sunday.
H. S. Gibson and Alex Baker
helped R. B. Gibson clean out
his well the first o f the week.
Mrs. A. W. Cooke spent Mon
day night at the home o f her
mother Mrs. S. F. Howlett.

Gresham Beats Us 13 To 7
Contributed
Last Friday they came forth.
Not the bunch that avoided meet
ing our boys and taking their
punishment last year, but a new
bunch, said to be all new but one
man.
They beat our boys, yet they
did not wallop them, neither did
they walk over them.
Everything went lovely during
the first half with E. H. S. mak-
ng a touchdown and steady prog
ress with line-bucks, end-runs
and short passes. But alas the
last half opened with a man in
Gresham’ s back-field, who could
outrun anything in Eastern Clack
amas County, the deer in the hills
not excepted. They even claim
that he ran circles around James-
John’s “ Chink” .
This runner got away twice
and made long runs for touch
downs both times.
The game was well played on
both sides, with good sportsman
ship, clean playing and a close
score making the contest well
worth the spectator’s time and
money.
The Basket Ball Girls, under
the direction o f Miss Lilly, are
daily training for their future con
tests. Fach class is represented
by a g irl’s team and Several in for
mal games have already been
played. G irl’s athletics are begin
ning each year to play a more
prominent part in school life and
some very exciting games are
expected.
A party o f students including
all the football players will w it
ness the Nebraska-O. A. C. foot
ball game in Portland next Satur
day.
