Heard On The Rural Phone Say Maude, I have something dreadful to tell you. Yesterday I was canning some peaches getting ready for the Exhibit down at the East Clackamas County Fair, and I had just finished filling ten jars when Willie came running along and run into the table and upset six of them and broke them all to pieces, and now I’ve got to go and buy some more jars and I expect I’ll have to pay about two prices for them” . “No you wont either Helen, if you get them down at Givens for I was there and got three dozen yesterday and the price was just the same as it has been this whole season. Givens has always got a price that’s right on everything. And say you aught to see the new improvements he’s making down at the store” . “ I suppose you are getting the baby fattened up for the Old Fashioned Baby show are you? Well dont forget that you have to take a solemn oath to keep the peace even if your baby dont win” . “Say did you hear that story they are telling around about the folks that went down to the hop fields” . “ No! Tell me about it” . “Oh Gee! I wouldnt dare tell you over the phone, for I think there are a number of receivers down already, and so I’ll wait, until the first time I see you and then tell you” . “ Well Maude I’ve got to go now for Henry is already to start down to Givens Store, after some feed and groceries and I am going along to see that he dont hold out on my 2"o discount for you know thats what me and the kids get for our fair money. Good Bye” . •HEADQUARTERS Groceries, Flour, FOR Feed, Poultry Supplies “ A Satisfied Customer is the Best Advertisement” WALTER Parent-Teacher Programs The program committee of the Parent-Teacher Association has prepared a list of topics for con sideration at the meetings of the year, and has placed each meet ing in charge of a committee.
