Parent Teacher* O pen Play Shed At a special meeting of the Parent Teacher Association, held in the school house Tuesday afternoon, June 13th, the ques tion of summer supervision of play was considered. Mrs. C. VV. Devore, president of the association, had secured Mrs. Nealond of Portland to speak on Playground Supervision. Prior to the afternoon meeting, the president entertained the Executive Committee of the local Parent Teacher Association at lunch with Mrs. Nealond, at the Log Cabin, followed by an infor mal round table discussion. For the summer play shed supervision, it was decided to secure three groups of two parents each to act for each month of the vacation. The committee having charge of this arrange ment is: Mrs. J. W. Reed, chair man, Mrs. C. F. Howe and Mrs. Wm Kaake. Special classes for summer work are planned for the three afternoons each week on which the play shed will be open. Field meetings, consisting of researches and explanations by Prof. Larsen were held in Lower and Upper Garfield, George and Springwater, with many farmers accompanying the professor in his first-hand field investigations. The advertised meeting for Wednesday afternoon in Estaca da, was poorly attended, as those farmers who had attended the field demonstrations, felt they could not Spare the time to take in the general meeting and the farmers who did not attend the field meetings, showed equal interest in the Estacada gather ing. Much valuable information wras imparted by Prof* Larsen at these meetings and being on the spot with actual growing condi tions present, many farmers feel that they profited doubly. Instead of confining the pro gram to a discussion of tax meas ures, the league’s officers have decided to give this meeting over #to the discussion of marketing facilities for the farmers’ dair y produce. Hundreds of local farmers are interested in this question and should attend this meeting, where the matter will be presented from all angles, with the speakers an swering questions covering the various phases o f the cheese making business.
