City Jail On Fire In order to demonstrate to the Estacada city council the efficacy o f Pyrene hand fire extinguish­ ers, a salesman Tuesday after­ noon, with the consent and aid o f the councilmen and a crowd o f onlookers, started a roaring fire in the city jail building, then with two quarts of the extin­ guisher completely extinguished the flames. The fire was allowed to get a good start, with flames leaping through the wooden walls and bed bugs and similar remem­ brances o f the town’s guests, beating it for fresh air. As a disinfector for the building and as an example o f the workings o f the extinguisher, it was a suc­ cess. The city council are con­ sidering installing a number of these extinguishers in public places, for emergency use. be here. De­ vore of Estacada, last week pur­ chased a Chevrolet roadster, which brother Claude is keeping in working order to and from Oregon City, where he is this week acting as one of the official ballot counters. Wm. Palmateer of Morgan, Oregon is spending a few days in Estacada and Garfield, visit­ ing among relatives. Mr. and Mrs. George Douglass and daughter Harriet, and Frank Dowty of Portland spent the week-end at the J. W. Dowty home in Alspaugh. About two weeks ago, Frank Dowty had the misfortune to injure his hand in a motorcycle accident and has been unable to work since. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Henthorn, regret their contemplated removal from Estacada to Washington, Kansas, where Mr. Henthorn will go into farming.
