Everhart who is a can didate for the office of County Assessor on the Republican tick et at the spring primaries is well known throughout the county. He is a native born and has lived all of his life near Molalla. He was the first mayor of that city and was elected to succeed him self to that office. He is Master of the Pomona Grange of Clackamas County. He has been identified with the Clackamas county fair since it was inaugurated and has been one of the directors. He is very popular in his home town and section and has a large following in all parts of the county. According to statistics com piled by the F. R. L. & P. Co., regarding the development of the livestock shipping industry from Estacada, since the estab lishment of the Estacada Stock Yards in December 1914, there were shipped from this point in the twelve months ending De cember 15th last, a total of 1452 nogs and 207 head of cattle, be sides one carload of cattle, which was not included, in all being 24 carloads. A comparison of the business during the months of January, February and March of 1915 and the same period of 1916, shows an increase in the shipment of hogs from 401 to 618, represent ing over a 50 » growth. The av erage monthly shipment for 1915 being 121 hogs, as compared with 206 for 1916 to date. Former County Resident Passes Secretary And Premium Committee Appointed At a meeting of the East Clack amas County Fair Board held in Estacada Saturday, Walter Giv ens was elected as secretary of the association for the coming year. In the selection of Mr. Givens the board is assured of a hard working member and one whose interests are closely allied to the work. With Ed Shearer as chairman, a committee comprising Messrs. Bartlett and Guthrie was appoint ed to take charge of the issuing of the premium lists for the 191<i fair. Four Leave Estacada Last Friday was unlucky for Estacada. in the departure of four local men, being Noble Me Millan and Clyde Schock, who left for San Francisco; Rollo Her ring, who left for his old home in the central part of New York state and A. T. Sarver, who started to return to his former home in Virginia, but who. after getting as far as Portland, turned back, after being persuaded that Oregon is and always will be superior to Virginia. Andrew Jackson Mayfield, for 29 years a resident of Gilliam County and formerly a pioneer of the Highland district of Clack amas County, passed away Thurs- day evening, April 30th. at the home of his neice, Mrs. Frank Millard of Springwater. Mr. Mayfield was 68 years old, having crossed the plains into Oregon in 1867. The deceased is survived by his widow and six children, all residing in Oregon.
