The road between Barton and
Baker’s Bridge, along the north
bank of the Clackamas, is open
for travel again. A large slide
of mud, rock and timber blocked
this road soon after the recent
snow, forcing travel across the
| Barton bridge and down on the
Logan side of the river.
Geo. Foreman, one of Barton 's
up-to-date farmers, has purchas
ed a caterpilfar tractor and is op
erating same on the old Foster
donation land claim, which he
has rented for the season. He
reports good success plowing and
harrowing, nltho the machine is
rather unwieldy for small fields.
The Rev. Fee of Portland held
a meeting Sunday evening at the
Barton schoolhouse, preaching a
good sermon to a goodly sized
crowd. “Sunday Base Ball” was
so harshly criticised by the min-
ieter that some of the good breth-
ern were made to feel very un
comfortable.
Spring farm work is progress-
1 ing rapidly in this section.
