At the regular meeting o f the
Student Body, several subjects
of considerable importance were
discussed. A n e w system of
awarding “ Es” was adopted, in
which the athletic “ Es” were to
be made six inches long and
fancy, while those for debate
and oratory are to remain Old
English style, as before.
A 15c rate was adopted for all
members o f the Student Body.
For the rest o f the semester,
anyone holding a student-body
receipt, may witness any event
given under the auspices of this
organization, for 15c,
Timber Wanted
The Progress is in receipt of a
letter from Portland parties, as
follows:
‘ ‘ We have an inquiry for a tract of
land with sufficient timber to cut 250,000
1 hewn ties and at what price stuinpaae
1 could b e purchased.
Kindly advise
promptly if there is anything in your
vicinity that could be secured and at
what price?”
Eastern Clackamas timber own
ers should land this order and in
order to do so, the Progress
wishes to have every party in
this section, who has any timber
suitable for hewn ties, advise
this office.
Inasmuch as the average tie,
means about 40 feet o f lumber,
it is not likely that a single piece
o f timber containing 10,000,000
feet could be found here, but by
combining tracts, it should be
possible.
