Stone: of Oregon City has pledged him self as against the expenditure of the $3,000 appropriated by the Taxpayers Meeting for the enforcement of the prohibition law', believing the appropriation unnecessary. S taggers Prevalent Reports are received from all sections of farm horses being ill and in many cases succumbing to the “ staggers” and influenza. Ray Crane of Springwater lost two fine horses this week and several farmers in the Garfield and Currinsville districts have1 animals that probably will not re- c iver. Remember, Feb. 18, Estacada | plays Oregon City at Oregon City and on the 25th a return game. The Junior play under the able coaching of Miss Lilly is prog ressing rapidly. The play will take place in about four weeks and is a comedy entitled “ The Sky Riders ” The Juniors tak ing part in it being Paul Frazier. Clyde Denny, Lloyd Salir,g, Phili Adams, Janet Graham, Rosalliel Allen and Josie Harkenrider. At a meeting of the student body called by the athletic coach it was decided to abandon base ball the coming season and con fine the Spring athletics to track j work. The state debating contest in ¡ the North Willamette district is ! divided into three divisions, Es tacada having won one; Je ffe r-, son, Or. another, while the third j has not been settled yet. E sta-! cada’s negative team will meet the winner of the third division here in the final debate, Feb. 11.! The Willarffette quartet will close a successful state tour in Estacada, Feb. 18th with a con cert held under the auspices of E. H. S. _ _ _ _ _ Announcement will be made later of a unique French Carnival to occur March 10, in the school play shed. The Freshmen royally enter tained the Sophomores Friday evening in the school and no un invited guests were present. The 4th Annual School Fair will take place Feb. 22nd.
