Pick Berries and Fight Bears
Poland Chinas Selected
A large number o f people from
Estacada and surrounding coun
try are now in the huckleberry
patches on Wild Cat and Squaw
Mts. Already some o f the early
pickers have returned with an
abundance o f berries, which they
report to be plentiful, but the
patches are spotted, necessitating!
more walking than usual.
One unlucky picker returned
to camp to find all eatable pro
visions gone, including a five gal
lon can of berries, as a bear had
wandered into camp during their
absence.
C. E. Lucke announces that
the three boars to be used as a-
wards at the Estacada and
George fairs, donated by the P.
R. L. & P. Co. and the Estacada
Stock Yards, will be o f Poland
China breed.
These boars are pedigreed, be
ing sired by the 1914 Grand
Champion o f the State Fair. The
pedigree will be issued as soon
as the awards are made, as the
papers must be registered in the
name o f the winner.
These hogs will arrive in Esta
cada, Saturday the 4th.
The
Progress wishes to ask if some
one from George will volunteer
to call for and deliver their hog
to the proper parties.
Dr. Geo Dale o f Estacada, last
week opened up a dental office at
Wallowa. Or. and his many
friends wish him success in his
new location.
