A N IB BLE of “ Right-Cut” gives you
more good tobacco taste and suh •
stance than a cheekful o f the old kind.
It’s the Real Tobacco Chew—and if you
like tobacco you’ll know it by the time
you finish your first pouch.
Sappy, mellow, rich tobacco—ser-
soned and sweetened just enough. And
the taste lasts.

New Farm Machinery
An Iron-clad silo and large
{lower cutter were purchased by
the Howell brothers o f Spring-
water last week, from the W. H.
Hessel Farm Machinery Co. o f
Gresham. The Howell brothers
are now prepared to cut ensilage
and fill silos for farmers in this
section at any time.
Tippling in Danger
Much agitation is being engen
dered by the recent construction
o f legal authorities, which is be
ing placed upon : he Oregon pro
hibition law or that clause o f it
which reads “ The said whisky,
or beer or wine, as the case rpay
be, is to be used for sacramental
purposes only.”
The new law to take effect the
first o f the yedr, allows any law
abiding citizen to have shipped in
to him or her, 2 quarts o f spirit
uous or vinous liquors and 24
quarts o f malt liquors, every four
weeks, for personal consumption.
Said citizen, in order to receive
such a shipment, must sign an
affidavit stating that said liquors
areforsacramental purposes only,
and that is where the trouble
lies.
Still, it seems as though any
individual who can consume 26
quarts o f booze per four weeks,
should have his or her conscience
and innards so saturated with al
cohol, that a little thing like sign
ing his or her name to a lie,
should not cause any conscience
pangs.
Again, many heavy boozers
take their drink so religeously
that the duty o f drinking is al
most a religion in itself and con
sequently the sacramental pur
poses clause should interfere but
slightly.

Over fifty per cent o f the met
al pipe, for use on the South Fork
pipe line, has been delivered at
Oregon City. The laying o f this
pipe is already under way from
the Oregon City end.
The ditching and tunneling is
almost finished and the new
bridge over the Clackamas at the
narrows near the Upper Dam is
completed. This bridge connects
with the new road on the south
side o f the river, for the hauling
o f the pipe. The bridge spans
the river about three feet above
the present water level and while
it will answer all purposes tem
porarily, will be washed away
later in the season during the
high water stage.
A large force o f men are open
ing uparegulation roadway from
the Upper Dam to North Fork,
following the old trail. This road
is requiring a large amount of
blasting and excavating and will
be used for the conveying o f all
pipe to be insfalled above North
Fork, where the pipe will be tak-
en across the river on rafts or
cables.
The metal pipe is being ship-
ped from Pittsburg, and each
section weighs about 900 lbs, be-
ing from 16 to 18 inches in diam
eter. The handling and laying
o f this pipe will require much
hard work and eleve»- engineer-
ing, as the pipe cai n >t be drag
ged along the ground, and must
be handled without scraping off
any of the paint,
The tunnel work, through the
South Fork bluffs represents a
handsome piece o f engineering
and the seven tunnel entrances
present the appearance o f a cliff
dwellers settlement, overhanging
the Clackamas Gorge.
Much credit is due the Oregon
Engineering & Construction Com-
pany o f Oregon City and the sub-
contractors, Copenhagen Bros.,
for the rapid progress o f this
project.
