Eastern Clackamas Pleases Banker Dorcas Society Receives $17.00 Wm. T. Wright, president o f the First National Bank o f Union, Or., accompanied by Mrs. Wright, spent the week end in Estacada. at the home o f their son, Irwin D. Wright. During an auto trip into the surrounding country, Mr. Wright expressed great surprise in the present development o f this section and as an experi enced western banking man, pre dicted a great future for Esta cada, owing to its unlimited con tiguous fertile country. Mr. W right’s brother, Wm. T. Wright. Jr. o f Portland motored out Sunday afternoon, bringing his sister and her husband, Mr. and Mrs. Gottfried Herbst o f Pi liman. Wash, to join the fam ily reunion. Wm. Wright, Jr., who is vice- president o f the Scandinavian- American Bank o f Portland, ac companied by his father and mother, returned home Sunday afternoon, but Mr. and Mrs. Herbst are remaining for a few days visit. Mr. and Mrs. Herbst, who are in charge o f the musi cal conservatory o f the Washing ton State College, rank among the leaders in musical circles in the west. _______ A representative crowd o f peo ple from Estacada and surround ing country attended last Satur day night’ s performance at the Family Theatre and certainly re ceived their 25c worth o f show. The play given by the Garfield Dorcas Society, entitled “ The Trouble at Satterlee’s ’ ’ was a treat and the acting o f the local ama teurs was the equal o f profession als. The leading part, as taken by Mrs. Bess Hyde Whitcomb, was excellent and received repeated applause. Miss Roberta Reid’s interpretation o f the lady princi pal o f the girl’ s school, was a fin ished piece o f acting, represent ing a modern prim and decorous old maid teacher. The leading comedy part was handled by Mrs. Kate W. Botkin and her imper sonation o f a scared Irish maid, kept up a continual laugh. Mrs. Grace Davis Jacobs portrayed a frivolous boarding school girl, who admit ably assisted her room mate, Mrs. Whitcomb, in hand ling the plot. The other pupils at Miss Satterlee’ s finishing school were the Misses Ednah Deming, Ida Wagner and Eliza beth Reid and they amply filled the parts of typical papa’s spoiled darlings receiving a boarding school polish. An extra good bill o f moving pictures followed the play and culminated the evening’s enjoy ment. Cherry Feast Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Currin o f Currinsville last Sunday after noon entertained about forty o f their friends, at their annual cherry earing feast, The Currin yard presented a gala appearance with a crowd o f young peftple busily engaged in stripping the family cherry trees, eating their fill and smearing the balance on their dresses, collars, hands and faces. When the last auto load o f cherry flavored frolicers de parted, the genial host proceeded to clean up the remains and doc tor up the thoroughly stripped trees. ________ Oregon City Buys In Estacada M. Handles Them Bare Handed Miss Caroline Wiederhold o f Bissell this week successfully hived two swarms o f bees, with out assistance. She accomplish ed this feat bare-handed and without a face covering and es caped any stings. There are a number o f expert bee handlers in this country, among them being J. B. Bowman o f Garfield and S. Turel o f Dodge. Last week, D. L. Erdman o f Sandy nearly lost his life, when he undertook to handle a swarm o f bees that had left their hive. Mr. Erdman, who is an expert bee culturist, did not take the ordinary precaution o f covering his hands and face and was con sequently so badly stung, that he was unconscious when help ar rived.
