Oklahoma C ity—Thirty-one persona
are reported to have been killed by a
tornado th a t sw ept S outhw estern Okla­
homa and the southeastern corner of
the T exas panhandle late Sunday.
A dozen towns w ere Btruck and
farm ing com m unities suffered.
Com munication facilitiea are para­
lyzed and it is impossible to confirm the
reports of life or estim ate the proper­
ty damaged.
The g re a te s t loss of life reported is
a t L ugert, w here it is said 15 persons

picked up 10 injured persons and s ta r t­
ed back for A ltus.
Two o f the injured ones died on the
train.
It is reported th a t a K ansas City,
Mexico & O rient train had been blown
from the track and 20 persons killed,
but it developed th a t only two cars
had been derailed and no one was hurt.
The tornado sta rte d ju s t across the
Texas border and first killed several
persons a t K irkland, T ex., dem olish­
ing 30 buildings, and blew a Rock
Island work tra in oflF the track.
