R e s p e c tfu lly Estacada Furniture Co. i Mrs. Willis Yonce, who has been visiting her brother in Oregon City, came home with a very bad cold and has been laid up for repairs since. Willis, witii the assistance of good neighbors, has been cook and lias succeeded well. Mrs. Yonce is improving under the care of Dr. Adix. W. A, Jones has leased the Linn livery barn, formerly occupied by A. Morrow, for a term of years and the same is being altered and ex tended. The building is being raised four feet and an extension of thirty feet is to he made in the rear. Mr. Baker, of Oregon City, has the contract for doing the work and has a crew of men now making the changes. The Southern Pacific's new office over the Estacada State Bank is occupied now by that company and it is a busy place; early and late there is always something doing. An additional force of twenty-five men was sent into the mountains on the work on Monday and the work is being pushed along. Many men are finding work with them every day. A. J. Darling, who bought the Hinman place and sold it out in small tracts has bought another twenty east on the same tract. He has men at work cutting wood with a view of clearing it all up. He ex pects to build at once on the place hut as he sold himself out of a home he has rented and moved into the Cunningham property, where he will remain until he builds, We are sorry to note that E. P Scott, who has recently fitted up a real estate office in the Estacada State Bank building, lias been com pelled, owing to his failing health, to close it up and go South. Mr. Scott left on Monday for Santa Bar bara, Cal., where he expects to live in the open air as much as possible during our rainy season in the hope that he may regain his tormer good health. He offers his office for rent, the Estacada State Bank as agent. W. H. Edwards, of Ely, N ev., came to Estacada on Saturday to visit a few days and to accompany his wife home. Mrs. Edwards, who is a grand-daughter of Mrs. F. R. Cary, has been spending several mouths at the Cary home. They left Estacada on Tuesday for San Francisco. Cal. accompanied by Mrs. Carv who goes that far with them on their homeward trip. Mrs. Cary will go to Los Angeles, Cal., where she expects to spend the Winter. Warren Barr, who has been in the employ of the Estacada Mer cantile Company since its organi zation and previously with Mr. Sparks, resigned his position and started East on a business and pleasure trip, exactin g to be gone for three or four months. He left on Monday bv the- Southern Pacific via San Antonio, Texas, his first stop will be at Lawrenccville. 111 . and from there to Spencer, West Virginia, his former home.
