Holder orchard near Estaca- da, and as various salesmen have claimed that these trees were fur nished by the nursery which they respectively represented, I hereby state that sit, h salesmen have made false claims. The said trees w eri grown by the Russellville Nurseries. And in proof of this we give a copy of the order as it was filled for the Cor t vallis Experim ent Station. Shipped to Mr. W. II. The state's wool clip, which has now been about all marketed, will put £ | .0. 0,000 in the- pockets of the sheep raisers of the state The year’s clip amounted to 20, ! 450,000 pounds of hue quality and i good prices were realized, Eastern , Oregon wool getting a maximum j price of 23 cents and the Wills 1 inette Valley crop reaching a top | price of 36 cents. The season was ideal for wool growers Fleeces were heavier than usual and the grade of the product is high. The wool money will lie divided quite generally throughout the state. A remarkable shipment of big Oregon logs were loaded on board the steamship Emma S. Dollar in Portland this week. The logs are very large, being 105 feet long and 40 feet in circumference There are 24 of the big sticks and they are being consigned to China, where they will lie used to rebuild the temple I.iug Yen, the most fam oii, house of worship in all China. The Chinese government purchased them here for the pur pose. They will be rarted up the Grand Canal in China tor 200 pules and taken overland six miles to the temple. The only possible way to get the big sticks this dis tance is for coolies to carry them on »lu ir backs. T h is seems impossible j but it is actually done in China in 1 transporting big timbers over| mountain trails, as will be done in this case. Probably the largest shipment of pheasants ever raised in captivity bv one grower in the country will be shipped by R. F. Simpson, of Lebanon, to the Idaho game ward en, and the birds will be turned loose to stock the state for the Idaho hunters. Mr. Simpson will send a carload and he is said to be t'ie only man in America who could fill such a big order. ' ; ii I ’ ill, e lf.
