RESUME OF THE

C loudburst Floods Rivers and O v e r

Mexico City, Sept. 7.— A special die

th a t floods yesterday ruined a large
section of the Zam ora d istric t. A ter

m iles of fe rtile valleys are under
w ater.
F u rth er d etails have been received
here of the Hood th a t sw ept the town
of Tula, in the sta te of Tam alpais, last
Saturday. A wave between 45 and 50
feet high engulfed the lower half of
the town. Two hundred houses and the
San Juan bridge were carried away and
many lives were lost. The storm raged
for three days.
T errible as are the conditions a t
Monterey, the correspondent declares
they are ju st as bad a t Tula and vicin
ity.
The en tire northeastern section of
the sta te is said to have been laid
w aste. Railroad and telegraphic com
m unication was delstroyed and the pop
ulation of Tula, some 7,000 persons,
was cut off from the re st of the nation
for four days. I t will be six or eight
months before the highw ays can be re
stored. T hirty bodies have been re
coveted and many bodies of shepherds
and m ountaineers are being washed
down into the valley below.
