The Estacada News was an estimable country paper and under the guidance of Mr II. A. Williams
occupied the field of a country newspaper at Estacada in as satisfactory manner as could possibly be ex
pected, under the existing conditions.

The time having arrived when the growing population and expanding business of the great Pacific
Northwest have made it imperative that a wider publicity be given to the many advantages of the soil, cli
mate and productions of Central and Eastern Clackamas County, in order to keep this rich section of Ore

It believes also that the lust way for the man of small means to make himself independent, is to pur
chase a small tract of the rich, alluvial soils of Central and Eastern Clackamas County, because the soil is in
most eases better and in all cases as good as elsewhere in the Northwest, and owing to its, until recently,
isolation the prices are about one quarter of the same lands in other, equally favored localities.
The happiest man these days is he who owns a ten acre farm that he has highly improved and thor
oughly cultivated. President Roosevelt says: “ Even five acres is enough to support a family and keep it
