Inspect Bridge
and Road Sites
The first real steps were taken the
beginning of the week towards the
realization of the Estacada-George
road. County Judge Diinick and
Bridge Builder Olds came over from
Oregon City, and the judge, with a
number of Estacada and George
people inspected the proposed bridge
site on Eagle creek, and the grade
011 the South side of the creek. A-
dolph Miller, Road Overseer Henry
Johnson, Nick Rath and others of
the George district were present.
After a personal inspection of the
whole proposition it seemed to be
the unanimous opinion that no l>et-
ter place can be found for the cross
ing. The grade on this side will
be about a six per cent, grade, and
the bridge will cost about $400. A
petition will soon l»e presented the
county court asking for the bridge.
The proposed crossing is directly
east of the John Tracy homestead.
Mr. Olds and others went down and
took measurements of the two sites
in question for the Clackamas bridge
at Estacada. It is reported that his
measurements at both sites were the
same. When the county hoard and
a number of citizens visited these
sites last Spring it was the consen
sus of opinion that the lower site
was considerable the widest place,
measuring from the tops of the em
bankments. Either place is a good
bridge location, if the money pro
vided is sufficient to build the Tight
kind of a bridge.
