In an effort to adjust the trouble
existing over the water works in
Estacada, a delegation of prominent
citizens of Estacada, composed of
B. O. Boswell, W. A. Heylman and
Judge Haviland and son, John held
a conference with H. W. Goode,
the new president of the O. W. P.
Upon listening to the delegation
President Goode told them that his
company had purchased the town-
site of Estacada, the large hotel and
everything pertaining thereto, and
that as soon as the new manage
ment could get things adjusted a
vigorous policy to aid in building
up Estacada and the country at this
end of the line would be adopted.
Mr. Goode said that they would
supply Estacada and its manufac
tories with all the electric power and
light needed. The new company
will inaugurate its plans in about
thirty days.

W ATER QUESTION
IS DISCUSSTD
Another meeting for discussing
the water question and other imma
terial matters was had by the peo
ple of Estacada, Tuesday evening.
After the election of a chairman and
secretary, the report of the commit
tee elected two weeks ago was heard
and accepted.
This committee re
ported that the present water sys
tem is worth 54,882. A motion by
Mr. Heylman that in view of the
report of the committee the city re
fuse to buy the water works brought
on the discussion. This was partic
ipated in by Messrs. Stratton, Heyl
man, Morrow, Boswell and Gilstrap
and a vote on the proposition result
ed In 14 against buying the system
and 26 in favor of it. The chairman
and secretary were elected to con
vey the meeting’ s decision to the
city council, and the meeting ad
journed.
W. P. Keady was pres
ent and elucidated on what the wa
ter system consists of. A t the close
of the popular meeting the council
convened and immediately adjourn
ed until 8 p. m. Saturday.
