Fire at Hotel Estacada
A Small Blaze Starts, but is
Soon Extinguished.
The fire department was called
out a t'1 o ’clock last Monday morn
ing to put out a fire in Hotel Esta
cada. Manager Martinez, who had
occasion to be up at that hour, dis
covered the fire, aroused all occu
pants of the house and gave the a-
larm. The fire company responded
at once. The bottom of the floor
round the fire place had caught fire
and had been smouldering for some
time filling the hotel with smoke.
After considerable work with axes
a hole was cut through and water
turned on the blaze from underneath
the floor and the fire soon extin
guished.
A few hundred dollars
will cover the damage to the build
ing which is fully insured
Messrs
Morris and Keady were out Mon
day to see the effects of the fire
Business at the hotel is not inter
rupted.
