    J. R. Townsend a practical shoe
maker from Portland has establish­
ed himself in the shoe making and
repair business in Estacada.
His
shop is in the old fish market build-
in on Broadway.
The
Clackamas Power Co.
has
been incorporated by J T Apperson
H E Cross, C H Dye, E G Caufield
and Irwin B. Sanborn.
T h e object
of the new company is to erect and
maintain dams on the Clackamas
river and to develope its power, and
to buy and
sell real
estate and to
operate a logging industry, etc.
It
has a capital stock of $25,000 that
is divided into
too shares of $250
per share.

It is'quite rainy and cool for this time
of year.
Quite a number of old friends have re­
turned to Garfield for a short time. A-
mong them are Wid and Bert Palmateer,
sons of Wm. Palma tee r, of lone, Daniel
Palmateer and wife, Wm. Welch and
! sons of Lodi, Cal. Mrs. Minnie Ely and
son of lone. Her husband returned to his
home after meeting Mrs, Ely, Grand­
mother Sarah Palmateer, Mrs. Buckhan-
on Fisher and son Bonnie, of Roseburg.
Mrs. Fisher’s husband joined her here
last week. Mrs. F. returned to Portland
to fill an engagement, as she is a first-
class musician, and well-known by the
leading music firms of Portland imd seat-
tie. She is kept quite busy. Mr. Fisher
staid in Garfield for his health, he is suf­
fering from a paraletic stroke.
Mrs. Moore and daughter Jessie are
visiting Walter and Creta Lemon on the
Lemon ranch.
There was a very pleasant reunion and
double birthday dinner at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Dock Palmateer’s, June 22
it being the birthday annivesarv of
James Daniel Palmateer of Lodi, and
Mrs. Emma J. Palmateer wife of Dock
Palmateer. There were present, Daniel
Palmateer, wife and son, Wm. Welch
and sons Clarence, Bernard and Leonard,
Mrs. Eunice M. Homer, Mrs. Sarah Pal­
mateer, Lee Wills wife and son Ira, W.
P. Snuffin and wife, Millard Sarver, Mas*
ter Richard Palmateer, and the host and
hostess Dock Palmateer and wife. After
enjoying the dinner the party spent some
time in converse, singing and prayers,
and wishing many returns of the day.
