1 SPRINGWATER NEWS Wm. Bard has been very sick but is slowly improving. Quite a number of school pupils are staying out on account of spring work. Miss Edith Shannon of Portland has been visiting at the home of her friend Miss Edna M iller. E . A. M iller made a ^business trip to Portland last week. Quite a number of the young folks of Sringw ater attended church at Dodge last Sunday week. Am ong them were Maud, E arl Shibley, Robert G uttridge and Carl H owell. Mrs. M ary Thomas of Boyd, is visiting at the home of her parents, M r. and Mrs. Branch Tucker. Miss Em m a Shibley, Miss W aivo Lew- el len, George Guttridge, and Wm. Clos- ner attended the district conventon held in Oregon City the 3rd, 4th, and 5th. A ll report a good time. Sidney Sm ith has been very sick but is better now. Beautiful spring weather and all the farmers are busy sowing grain ’ Mrs. Dora B. H erring and daughter Waivo are visiting at the home of Mrs. H erring’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guttridge Wavio Lewellen left Wednesday for Moro Ore. where she w ill spend a few weeks with her brother and sister. The m any friends of George Guttridge are sorry to hear that he has been com pelled to leave here on account of poor health. He goes to Colorado to spend a few months and it is to be hoped that the change w ill be beneficial. Miss Adelle M ulkey who finished a very successful term of school at Dodge last week, left Tuesday for her home in Southern Oregon. During a fierce wind storm Sunday ev ening the steeple on the Presbyterian church of this place, was blown off and utterly demolished. On Saturday evening, March 18th an j entetaininent and weight social w ill be given at the Grange H all in Springwater for the purpose of securing an organ for the school. An interesting pr »gram is being prepared and every one is cordially invited. Admission, adults 20 cents and children 10 cents. Ladies who bring lunches w ill be admitted free. W histling Rufus. W .
