Estacada will have a good, sub stantial growth this summer. No hot air inflation is wanted, and such a condition should be prevented. In the late dispatches from Rus sia is a very interesting bit of news. It says that the peace party argue that Russia is nearly bankrupt, and that it will be very hard to secure money to carry on the war. The war party says that, “ should the Czar use his private fortune for war purposes, the money question will be settled. ” What conditions will permit of suchvast individual fort unes. It is food for thought. The thought that one person is wealthy enough to carry on actual warfare against a hostile nation is not new, yet when it is put in practical oper ation the real significance of it all dawns on one. Resolutions and Memorial. Estacada Lodge 175, I. O. O. F. at its last meeting, March, n , inst passed the following resolution of condolence. W h e r e a s , Edward W. That these resolutions be sent to the bereaved wife and family, and also be puplished in the local news paper. Brother Duncan was born June 11, 1879 at Susansville Lassen Co., Cal. and, for the past eight years, has been a worthy citizen of our com munity. He became a member of Estacada Lodge No. 175 I. O. O. F. on the night of installation and has been an active member until called from us “ In the midst of life we are in death.” Let us also be ready when the summons comes. While we humbly submit to the edicts of Him Who doeth all things well, we sincerely mourn the loss ofour depart ed, faithful brother. As our broth ers fall one by one may we be re minded of the brevity of life, and be inspired to accomplish without delay whatsoever remains to be done. But as we cherish the memory of dead, and think of their virtues, their ears are deaf to the kind words our lips would utter. Let us rather think of the good in the living; say kind words to those who can hear and appreciate, and scatter the sun shine of loving deeds to gladden the hearts of living brothers. E . F.
