SPRINGWATER NEWS BORING NEWS E A Miller and family were visiting friends in Dodge from Friday till Sunday. The missionary society has been recent­ ly reorganized in the Presbyterian church of this place. The first meeting held at Mrs. Lacey's Wednesday afternoon. On Wedne day evening the 12 , there will be a social gathering at the parson­ age. Games, recitations, and music will be the chief features of the evening. Miss Libbie Bard and Mr. Jess Lincoln were married the 16th at Oregon City. Their future home will be in California. Several young people of Springwater attended church at Dodge last Sunday, The school of this place is preparing for an entertainment and weight social in the near future. Announcements will be made later. W hitling Rufus. The school has been closed the last week on account of sickness. School will begin again Monday. The Boring mill was closed down all of last week, but is running this week and they expect to get in full time. Wm. Boring has been hauling some timbers for a large bam he is going to build. Jim Swaggart has had a rough time of it the last week, his wife was sick in bed and he stepped on a rusty nail wjiich laid him up for a few days. Mr. Cord has bought out Mr. Markell of the firm of Simpson and Markell, deal­ ers in general merchandise. Mr .Wilson of Goldendale, Washington spent Saturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oldham. Mrs. Josie Wheeler, daughter of T. M. Allison, left for Texas Monday, to join her husband. Singing school was held at O. A. Palm­ ers Sunday evening. T A Roots of Portland was in Boring on business last Friday. Mrs. Basile Lawrence visited with Wm. Morand and wife Saturday and Sunday. CiMTinsville The cold damaged the fall grain in some places. The ground was frozen dry and the wind blew the dirt from the grain roots. The grange hall at Garfield was nearly burned, Thursday last. Fire from C. Looney's pasture burned underneath the hall, but it was put out by R G Palmateer and Walter Lemon. Mrs. Sarah Palmateer is calling on the families in the south part of Garfield this week. Mrs. R . G. Palmateer made a business trip to Portland this week. Lee Wills is well pleased with the results of shipping his cream to the Hazelwood creamery at Portland. He is the first to ship cream from Kstacada. The roof blew off the Lemon woodshed last Thursday giving Miss Creta Lemon quite a shock.
