His face shielded in a mask he - attends a ball where he meets and falls in love with Nancy Carrol, iweetheart of the powerful and wealthy land-baron, Badger Bro gan. He discovers that Brogan jr. the man who Reeks their capture, having a grudge againxt Dad Walk er for having run him out of town a year back. After a quarrel with Brogan, Granger Hume and his pal escape to join Dad Walker. But they are discovered by Brogan's henchmen and Dad Walker is shot down. Be fore he dies he tells Hume that the gospel of the gun ir. all wrong and gets him to promise not to avenge his death by shooting Brogan. Hume, who is known only by re pute to Brogan, changes clothes with the new parson on his way to town, and puts up at the Carrol ranch. While posing in this guise he overhear- a plot of Brogan to raid the neighboring ranches and frustrates it by warning the towns people. He is purrued by the wrath ful Brogan and his band of maraud ers. Brogan makes his way into the house where Hume and Nancy are staying and Hume, in self-defense, ir obliged to break his promise to Dad Walker and preach gun-gospel, killing Broghn. Hume, by shooting his own pe culiar mark above the door, reveals himself to everybody and he is lauded as a hero. The hillside at fhc rear of the Elwood, Martin and Dyer residences was all aflame, but with a strong stream of water judi ciou ly applied the blaze was soon under control. The only loss was a section of unappreciated sage brush. Base Ball Sunday A game of baseball is scheduled for Sunday afternoon on the home grounds, it being between a team from the county seat and the Mau pin aggregation.
