the Troutman ranch this week. As

the Newt Morris ranch Tuesday even

from the ranch and witnessed the
graduation of their son, Clarence,

ium. Mr". Albert St. Dennis and son,
Albert, Jr., came in from Snohomish,
Washington, Sunday afternoon and
will remain in Maupin during the
summer.
Harry Weberg was in from the
ranch this morning and conveyed his
parent and sisters to Kelly cemetery,
where they decorated the graves of
their departed ones.
Mt Henneghan and wife left
for Dufur this morning. Fmw
there they, with Mrs. Knowles and
two of Floy Batty's girls, will pro
ceed to Salem for a short visit.

Mis Velma Crofoot has returned
to her studies at Monmouth normal,
she having come to Maupin last
week in order that she might gradu
ate with her claw of the Maupin
High school.

were callers on the minister here on
Monday. They were on their way
to Bend and from there intended to
tour California in company of their
son, who lives at Klamath.

Oil Struck al Fowil
The company that is drilling an
oil well at Fossil was notified on
Monday that a substance resembling
tar and crude oil wa seeping into
the well. The substance seemed to
be leuking from a fissure already
penetrated by the drilL It will be
tested for determination as to just
what it is. The Fossil well is but a
very few miles from the Clarno field.
