Brought In Power Shovel.
F. S. Brown, contractor on three
miles of the Wapintia-Mt Hood cut
off, on Tuesday unloaded a large
power shovel, mounted on a cater
piller tractor, and which he will use
in his road work. The machine was
taken to Bear Springs that evening.
Took Combine to Ranch.
Clifford Allen is about ready for
harvest. Monday morning he haul
ed a new McCormick-Deering com
bine to the ranch and will soon have
it in operation in a great wheat
crop. The harvester was purchased
cf Shattuck Bros. :
Falher 1'yncs Holds Services.
Rev. Fr. O't) Hynes came over
from Wasco and held services at the
Catholic church on Sunday last.
Quite a few communicants if that
church were, in attendance and a
mixed choir rendered th6 hymas
end response.

Guy Brittain lost a valuable cow
at Tygh recently. The animal was
a gift of Mrs. Britain's grandfather,
S. B. Driver when a calf and at
tracted much attention at Tygh be
cause of her blueish color. Too

ROUMANIAN KING PASSES ON
Died Yeserday Morning at 2:15
Prince Michael Proclaimed
King Ferdinand of Roumania died
yesterday morning at 2:15, after an
illness which covered a long period
of time. The immediate cause of his
death was pneumonia, brought on in
the Carpathian mountains, where he
had been r.ent to recuperate. '
Sixteen hours after the king's de
mise Prince Michael, Bon of ex
Prince Carol, was proclaimed king.
Prince Carol renounced all right

Addington Back at Work.
After an enforced layoff of over
a month-, caused by an infected eye,
M. M. Addington, foreman of main
tenance on the ' Maupin section of
The Dalles-Califoria highway, it

fully recovered the use of his eye,

First Wheat Brought In.
Ed. Wilson of Wamic brought in a
load of this year's crop of wheat on
Wednesday, this being the first of
the 1927 crop to be wheeled to Mau
